I have an Xperia Ray with a broken SIM reader that I wanted to reuse as a media player.
The bootloader is unlocked and it is currently running AOKP Kitkat.
Everything was working well with a PNY 64GB Class 10 microSD but when I transferred exactly the same files (about 50GB of music) onto a Sandisk 128GB Class 10 microSD the device is so slow it is unusable. If the Sandisk card is blank then the problem doesn't occur. Both cards were formatted in the device and are working without problems (full and blank) in other Android phones.
Is this an issue with Kitkat or the device being too old to properly use the card? I have already tried the unofficial Marshmallow ROM but once the microSD is inside, you cant take it out to put files on it and I had a really unstable USB connection so I couldn't use that method either.
How can I get the larger card working smoothly in the Ray?
Thanks
