Enabling additional LTE bands in phones with Kirin 955 chipset

There is like a dozen different threads and guides on XDA for enabling additional LTE bands in Qualcomm's Snapdragon based devices, but there is not a single thread on XDA (or anywhere else, for that matter) that I could find about doing the same for HiSilicon's Kirin 950/955 chipsets.
World's 3rd biggest phone maker Huawei uses Kirin chips in their phones. Huawei's flagship devices have very good specs, affordable prices, but unfortunately a lot of them are released for Chinese market only (there might be few other Asian countries with compatible LTE bands, like Philippines).
A lot of Kirin 950/955 devices with flagship specs and affordable prices never make it to Europe, let alone USA, so it is beyond my comprehension how come no developer/user on XDA has attempted to do the world a huge favor and do some work on enabling additional LTE frequencies for Kirin devices. I bet if there was a fund started, for a capable developer to take on the task - a lot of people would contribute towards this goal. I know I would.

For example, I'd love to buy and be able to use in USA Huawei's Honor Note 8, released for Chinese market only - wasn't meant to be, because it only has B1,B3,B7 FDD-LTE, whereas my carrier requires bands B2,B4,B12
