ASUS Launches the ZenFone 4 Max in Russia with a 5,000mAh Battery

Trends of flagship smartphones are showing that they're getting thinner and thinner these days and this has resulted in a smaller battery than some people would hope for their $600+ device. As performance in smartphones is hitting a plateau when it comes to your typical everyday task, mid-range devices are actually becoming a viable alternative. So a new trend we're seeing is these mid-range devices coming with bigger batteries in hopes to attract more customers.

This is exactly what ASUS is doing with a new entry of their ZenFone 4 series of smartphones. The ZenFone 4 Max from ASUS ticks a lot of boxes for a mid-range device, but it's the 5,000mAh capacity battery that makes it stick out from the competition. The company hasn't made a big deal out of this launch, but it is being brought to customers in Russia for a starting price of 13,900 Roubles (which is about $230 right now at the current conversion rates).

The huge 5,000mAh capacity battery will likely be the key marketing feature for ASUS with the ZenFone 4 Max, but they're also proud of some of its other hardware. The product page for the new phone shows an emphasis on the cameras of this device. The front 8MP camera is equipped with an LED flash for selfies and and the rear cameras have one 13MP sensor and another that lets you capture a 120-degree photo for landscape or group photos.

ASUS is advertising 0.03 seconds for its phase autofocus feature, EIS for stabilization, and a super-resolution mode that will let you stitch together multiple photos into one 52MP image (though as usual, we don't have high expectations for that). The rest of the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max has it outfitted with a 5.5″ LCD display, either the Snapdragon 430 or 425 SoC (depending on the variant you choose), up to 3GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, two SIM slots, and a headphone jack with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
