LG G5 Official Mesh Folio Quick Cover case (LG-CFV-160) thoughts and experiences

Thought I'd start a discussion thread covering just the LG G5 official mesh folio Quick Cover case (LG-CFV-160). So far, I've only seen generic reviews regarding the case and not much long term experience, thoughts etc.

Here goes (warning, I'm not an English major!).. I am a fan of folio cases, especially OEM folio cases that provide additional useful functionality. The trend was for top end phones from Samsung, LG, etc with removable batteries, there was often optional flip cover that also replaced the rear battery door, typically to include contacts on the flip cover rear door that would enable additional features on the phone. Flip sensing, QI wireless charging, etc.

The flip covers can be annoying when taking photos, etc, but practical for:
1. Protects screens. Some folks in the family aren't as careful and just toss their phones in bags, not considering what other contents might be there that could scratch the screen.
2. Accessibility - either built in or with third party software, the flip action can be useful to simply usage for the non savvy family members. Like the good ole flip phone days, open to answer, close to end.
3. Lastly, with a simple cut out on one side, standard gel TPU bumper cases could be used with flip covers that also replaced rear battery doors since they general dimensions of the phone remains the same.

Now, specifically regarding the official LG G5 Quick Cover case. My feelings? Costly, but I like it. Although it clips on the rear of the phone it is extremely light weight and has a premium feel. It is nice to be able to have an always on status and be able to answer calls without opening the flip cover.

There are cons ..
1. It's premium smooth plastic feel can easily be scratched (sort comes with the territory).
2. Slippery (subjective), where as I prefer gel cases so you can slap it down and not worry as much that it might slide off a table or elsewhere, etc. My work around is to add a couple strips of vinyl / electric tape on the rear. Going to buy and try some cheap bumper cases and hopefully find one that can be made to fit the LG G5.
3. Darn flip cover doesn't like to stay down, maybe it just needs to be worn in.
4. Covers the volume buttons, and no outlines when closed, you just need to feel for it. Awkward to use the volume buttons when cover is partly open, you need to fully flip the cover back.
5. The LG G5 Quick Cover only works with the original bottom and will not work with friends module. Would of been nice if the figured a way to just attach a screen cover to either side, maybe a magnet, who knows. Maybe that's patented. Might have to switch phones if Microsoft ever releases a Surface Phone with a Touch / Type Cover!

Despite the cons, the official LG G5 Quick Cover case is definitely worth a try, especially if you could find it on sale.
